Powering On
When you plug the AC/DC adapter into the LiveU ProShell backpack, it charges both batteries.
Briefly press the physical Power button on the right side of the unit.
The Home screen displays on the touchscreen. When a camera is connected, the default live preview automatically displays.
Connecting a Video Camera
The LU900Q supports various video input combinations:
- Single Camera SDI: Connect your camera SDI cable to SDI 1.
- Single Camera HDMI: Connect your camera to an HDMI cable, to HDMI-IN. The unit automatically detects the signal format and updates the preview.
To connect the wired remote control that enables virtual access to the unit’s UI, see the LU900Q User Guide.
Selecting a Streaming Mode
Tap the active streaming operation mode button on the Home screen, and then choose a streaming mode:
- Live (Default mode): The LU900Q transmits incoming video to the receiver according to the Delay setting. If Live & Store is enabled, the unit also saves a local copy during transmission.
- Store & Forward (S&F): The LU900Q saves high-quality video to internal storage or an SD card at the configured quality level. When online, it simultaneously uploads (forwards) the stored video to the receiver. When offline, it saves the video for later upload. Use this mode in areas with extremely limited bandwidth.
For details on setting the delay, Live & Store, and Store & Forward, see the LU900Q User Guide.
Selecting a Destination Channel
You must set up the destination channel to stream video to a receiver.
- From the Home Screen > tap Channel.
- From the provided list, select your preferred destination channel. A star indicator displays next to your favorite channel(s).
Connecting to a Network
Network interfaces include cellular networks, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet links.
- From the Home Screen > tap the Connections icon.
- Tap the network interface you want to connect to. The top of the Home screen displays the number of network interfaces currently connected to the unit.
For detailed network configuration, see Connect to Network Interfaces in the LU900Q User Guide.
Going Live
- Confirm that the camera preview is visible, the correct channel is selected, and network links are active.
- Tap START on the touchscreen.
- The status displays Stop, and the Camera tab turns red to indicate active transmission. At the bottom of the screen, the total live bitrate displays.
- To stop transmission, tap STOP and confirm the action on the screen.
For advanced transmission and recording settings, see Configure the LU900Q Unit Settings in the LU900Q User Guide.
Shutting Down
There are two ways to shut the unit down:
- Regular shutdown: This method closes the unit and uploads safely.
- Emergency shutdown: This action may interrupt active processes.
Regular Shutdown
Use the on-screen power control whenever possible. This is the correct procedure to shut down the unit during normal operation. Doing so ensures that recordings, data, and network sessions are closed safely before power is removed.
- Tap the on-screen Power button.
- Select Shut down. (Optional) Select Restart.
- Wait until the screen turns off completely.
Emergency Shutdown
Only use this method when necessary, as it may result in loss of information.
- Press and hold the physical Power button on the unit’s right-hand side approximately six to eight seconds.
